of comedies for community theatre.
John A. Jordan was born in Toronto, Canada, July 15, 1928. He
grew up in England. During WWII, to escape the bombings, he, his
mother, and siblings sailed to Canada, where he graduated from
high school at 15. When they returned to England, he graduated
from Manchester Grammar School, founded in 1515, with Higher
Education Certificate at 17. He was drafted into the British Army.
After the sudden death of his father, he relocated with his mother
and siblings to Miami Beach, Florida.
He traveled the world during his career in the U.S. Air Force and
retired to Melbourne in 1973. He received his Associates degree
from Brevard Community College. He acted in community theatres
and wrote plays. Fourteen were performed on local stages. All but
one of his plays were comedies. He won several awards for
playwriting. He delighted to tell stories and share a hearty laugh.
He was married to Miriam A. Jordan (deceased) and Patricia
Homan Hagen Jordan (deceased). He leaves five step-children:
William August Hagen, Mary Hagen Roberts, Joanne Hagen Kusa,
Thomas Wayne Hagen, and Barbara Jordan Conner.
Full of encouragement and kindness, he and Miriam reared
Barbara. After the death of his wife Miriam, he met and married
Patricia. He was attentive and caring to each of his wives during
their final illnesses. He was loved by Patricia’s four children
and eight grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
He also is survived by siblings Ronald Jordan (Austin), and
Liz Jordan Ruppert (Atlanta).
Memorial Service will be at Rockledge Presbyterian Church,
Thursday, October 20, at 1:30. Internment will follow at Florida
Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, with military honors.
