Ken will be lovingly remembered by his children Paula Hart, Titusville, Gary Birch (Lisa) Reseda, CA, Jimmy Birch, Merritt Island, Yvonne Eskridge (Tom), Merritt Island, Karl Birch (Linda), Orlando, Rollin Birch, Merritt Island. Beloved Grandpa to 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Ken was pre-deceased by his loving wife Alberta.
Ken was born in Inglewood, CA and raised in Anacortes, WA where he graduated from high school. After graduation Ken went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, where he was a riveter working on B-17 bombers during WWII. At age 20 he was drafted into the Marine Corps and served on the island of Iwo Jima, carrying a 70 lb. flame thrower on his back. After leaving the service he worked at Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, CA, transferred in May 1957 and brought his family to Cape Canaveral. Ken retired December 1988 after 35 years of service.
A service will take place Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Brevard Memorial Park (5475 N US Hwy 1, Cocoa, FL) with burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Veterans Memorial Center, Merritt Island, FL. would be greatly appreciated.
Due to COVID-19 protocols masks and social distancing are required at both the chapel and burial.
