 
Resolution for Mr. Larry J. Bozeman
 
No matter what your trials are, or how big your mountain seems;
The Lord is there to see you through; He’ll go to all extremes.
So if your cross seems hard to bear; and you know not what to do;
The One who loves you most of all will be there to see you through.
 
 
WHEREAS, in the providence of God the life of Larry J. Bozeman has come to a close.  The officers and members of the Wichita Branch of the NAACP feel that it is befitting to express their sympathy to the family during this time of sorrow, as he was the father of Mrs. Kenya Cox, former President of the Wichita Branch of the NAACP and the current State of Kansas President of the NAACP.  She is loved and cherished by all of us and thus her sorry and grief during this time, is shared by us.
 
WHEREAS, Larry J Bozeman was loved and admired by a multitude of people, and it is fitting that his life and legacy be recognized and celebrated as we mourn his passing this day.  
 
BE IT RESOLVED, that we bow in humble submission to Him who never makes a mistake and remind the family to be encouraged and comforted by our belief in God.  The legacy of his personal faith, service, leadership and professionalism will be comforting and enduring.
 
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that we know your loss is deep, and your sorrow is great, but we want you to know that we share this all with you.  More importantly, we recognize that this loss is Heaven’s Gain as we celebrate a life well lived.  We rejoice in this Heavenly Home Going and want the family to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.  God is with you always.

I am at peace, my soul’s at rest
There is no need for tears
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years

WHEREAS, in the providence of God. He has brought to a close the life of Larry Bozeman, father of Kenya Cox, president of the Kansas State Conference of NAACP Branches.
 
WHEREAS the officers and members of Kansas State Conference of NAACP Branches feel that it is befitting to express our sympathy to the family. We commend you to Him who knoweth best and will always do right. You have our sincere prayers.
 
WHEREAS, Larry Bozeman loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a gentle, yet stern combination which only he possessed.
 
WHEREAS, Larry Bozeman loved his country he immediately enlisted in the United States Airforce where he served for twenty honorable years before retiring in 1985. After 26 years at the Kennedy Space Center (NASA) Larry retired a second time in March 2012.
 
BE IT RESOLVED, that we bow in humble submission to Him who never makes a mistake and remind the family to be encouraged by remembering this poem.
 
When I must leave you for a little while
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you through the years.
But start out bravely with a gallant smile;
And for my sake and in my name
Live on and do all things the same,
Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
But fill each waking hour in useful ways,
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you And hold you near,
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be given to the family and a copy kept in the Kansas State Conference of NAACP Branches archives.
 


Grandfathers are much like fathers in the way they are expected to lead and protect. However, it is their love and wisdom, mixed with their bad habit of spoiling their grandchildren which sets them apart. While Grandpa Larry found his grandchildren spread across the country, he never made an excuse to be absent. One could say he was never absent in any area of his life. He was always present, always active, and he always showed up. We as his grandchildren learned that many of life’s lessons could be taught in Opelika, Alabama sitting on a dirty, white fishing bucket for catfish. It was here that we found grandpa was most at peace. To him the most important things in life were family, health, education, and—of course—Alabama football. He consistently stressed the importance of seeking knowledge and truth for yourself, to not be easily manipulated or fooled, and he always demonstrated through his actions, the importance of showing up for people. We don’t know if this rings true for all grandchildren, but the grandchildren of Larry Bozeman could count on a card signed from grandpa with a $20 bill in it every birthday along with a call reminding us how old we’re getting. 
 
Few would know that this past year our grandfather was engaged in a relentless battle against stage 4 lung cancer, because he didn’t live his life any slower or with any fear. He seized the timeline before him with determination to live and love as harder than ever. In the midst of ongoing chemotherapy treatments, he still showed up, attending his only son’s wedding and walking his granddaughter down the aisle. Grandpa Larry’s life is a testimony of selflessness and what it means to put others first. 
 

Mr. Bozeman taught me how to love my neighbor.He didn’t have to take me with you guys to go fishing. He didn’t have to open his door on a Saturday morning for me to watch cartoon and eat up the fruit roll ups in the morning. He didn’t have to snatch me up and tell me to stay out of the street. He didn’t have to fix my bike. I learn so many life lesson from him. Thank you for sharing your father with me.

My condolences to the family. It was a pleasure knowing Larry, working with him for several years at Cape Canaveral. He was always kind to me and quick to form a big smile. May Our Dear Lord grant him eternal rest, and comfort and peace to his loved ones here. 

Thank you for the life lesson. Love you forever.
