He was born on June 11, 1923, in Unaka, NC, to parents George and Minnie Barnes.
He was a member of the IBEW for 50 years. Loman was the “original American Picker”; he loved to explore thrift shops and yard sales and find new projects and items to fix up. He loved working in his yard gardening, bird watching and building bird houses. He enjoyed going on walks and also loved going to the zoo—he would always stop to feed the giraffes. In his younger years he was an avid fisherman. Loman was also known for his sweet tooth; he loved many desserts, but pie was his favorite.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Nan Lou Barnes; his infant son, Timothy Joe Barnes; two infant brothers and his sisters, Hazel Sims, Norva O’Dell, Faye Crisp, and Pat Wallace.
Loman is survived by his daughters, Pamela (Dean) Danner and Pagiel Herndon; his sister, June Griffith; his granddaughters, Nicole (Joseph) Hester, Amy (Daryl) Isenhower, and Michelle (Michael Julian) Herndon; and his great-grandchildren, Alexis Craig, Zachary Craig, Joey Hester, Joshua Hester, Jakkob Hester, McKenzie Mounts, and Ruby Isenhower.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 7th, at 3 pm at Brevard Memorial Park.
