Lucille was born in Hadley, Minnesota, on November 21, 1939 to the
late Alvin and Dorothy Thompson. She was the oldest of five children.
In 1960, Lucille married Earl D. Cooley stationed at Chandler Air Force
Station, Minnesota. Lucille supported Earl's military career and
Kennedy Space Center employment. She and Earl enjoyed many
years of military assignments throughout the United States and Europe
with their three children before moving to Central Florida in 1975.
In 1981, Lucille and Earl purchased their first home in Merritt Island.
She was preceded in death by her only son, Kevin Cooley; brothers
Dale and Dean Thompson and parents, Alvin and
Dorothy Thompson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Earl Cooley, her daughters
Kathy Wheeler (fiance Kirk Chubbs) and Kelly (William) Shaver;
her sister, Debbie (William) DeYonge, her brother Leon (Barb)
Thompson; 3 grandchildren, Kerry, Jennifer and Daniel; and
1 great-grandchild, Charlie.
Lucille was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Merritt Island and
enjoyed being a greeter with Earl at Sunday services. Lucille
worked with American Greetings Corporation for 20 years. She
loved organizing the greeting cards, gift wrap, party goods and
calendars. Lucy loved looking through cook books and decorating
books for new recipes, colors and themes.
Lucille was member of the Red Hats. Her hobbies were flower
arrangements, doll making, basket weaving, and arts and
crafts. She loved to decorate and cook for her family for holidays
and special occasions. Lucy always made everyone feel special.
She was devoted to her family and known for her hospitality.
Lucille was a gentle, kind, dedicated woman gifted with many
special talents.

VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 1100 Courtenay Pkwy,
Merritt Island, Fl 32952.
