Mary Jane (Habeger) Morgan passed away 30 January 2018, at her home in Merritt Island, FL. She is survived by Glenn Morgan, her husband of 75 years, son Lance Morgan, daughter JoEllen McGrath, brothers John and Richard, and sister Carolyn. She leaves behind a legacy of nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Mary Jane was born in Havre, MT on 1 January 1923, daughter of George J. Habeger and Marion Evelyn Gorder. Her family lineage traces back to Switzerland and Norway. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ernestine and Laura Lee, and her eldest son Gary.
Mary Jane married Glenn in Bremerton, WA, March 1943, later moving back to MT where Glenn studied for an Engineering degree at the University of Montana, Bozeman. They returned to Bremerton in 1950, where Glenn started his career with the Department of Navy, at the Puget Sound Naval Ship Yard. She and Glenn relocated to Washington, DC in 1959. Mary Jane was employed for a short time at the Bremerton Navy Yard before she married, then at the Melpar, Inc. facility located in Fairfax Virginia. While living in Arlington, VA, Mary Jane and Glenn continued to travel back to Montana, Washington, Arizona and many other places, visiting family and friends. When Glenn retired from the Navy Dept in 1975, they relocated to Merritt Island, FL, and their home on Sykes Creek.
Proverbs 31:10-31 accurately describes Mary Jane as a faithful wife, a loving mother, and caring person. She was one of Gods special spirits who saw the good in everyone. She expressed her considerable talent with many art forms, including painting, ceramics, sewing, baking, and cooking. We all loved her cookies. She poured and painted several hundred ceramic figurines and proudly displayed her porcelain doll collection throughout the house on Riverside Avenue.
She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, a good game of gin rummy, watching Turner Classic movies with her daughter and grandchildren, and teaching the kids to swim in her pool. Her laughter and gracious smile lit up any event she attended. She and Glenn were active members of Moose, Elks, and various Car Clubs, thus leaving behind many generous friends to carry on her memory.
She and Glenn enjoyed dancing to Big Band Swing Music. Always an inquisitive one, Mary Jane (Nanny) took up raising orchids in her later years. She always had open arms and a smiling face greeting all of us who came to visit. She was adventurous and loved to travel.
Friends are welcome to attend the memorial service at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 N. US Highway 1, Cocoa, FL 32927, to be conducted 16 February 2018 at 6 pm.
