Because of a congenital heart defect, her family was advised to move to a more favorable climate, and they relocated to Alamogordo, New Mexico. In 1958, as a 10-year-old, she underwent open heart surgery to correct that condition. There were to be two more heart surgeries in 1972 and 1991.
In 1960, her family moved to Titusville where she graduated from Titusville High School in 1968. In 1975, she met her future husband, Bruce Baker, and they were married later that year. In 1981, they joined Indian River City United Methodist Church. She became active in the United Methodist Women, serving two terms as a unit president and with a variety of other church groups. She was later deeply involved in the church prayer ministry and became a fixture at the sanctuary doors on Sunday mornings, welcoming people and becoming known for her hugs and her joyous spirit and loving heart.
She left this life for a new one on December 19th and is survived by her husband, Bruce, and her sister, Gayle, as well as by a host of friends. She is now in her new home, built by our Savior and is no doubt welcoming newcomers to heaven.
