

Robert (Bob) Hamlon Fox of Melbourne, FL passed away on February 22, 2019 at the age of 97. Born on September 22, 1921 in Chicago, IL he was the son of the late Arthur Stewart Fox and Christine (Bergland) Fox.
Bob served in the United States Marines Corps during World War II, where he was deployed in the Pacific. He was a 1stLieutanant directing naval shellfire at the battle of Okinawa. After the war, he earned his Doctorate in Nuclear Physics from UC Berkley in California. At the time of his retirement he was the Director of Science and Technology at The Institute for Defense Analysis (IDA).
Mr. Fox is preceded in death by a son, never named, who died within hours of his birth, his wife of 51 years, Lorraine Maxine (Micki), his second wife of 15 years, Pauline Rita, and eldest daughter, Mary Christine (Christi) Blackistone.
He is survived by son-in-law Bruce Blackistone, daughter Janice Lynne (Laurence A. Taggart) Fox, daughter Barbara Joyce (Roger K.) Davis, and son Charles Robert Fox. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Michael (Lynn Moroniak) Blackistone, Kevin Blackistone, Elisabeth (Jon) Davis, Amanda Blackistone, James Patrick Fox-Taggart, Melanie (Adam) Allison, and Ashley (Kelly) Davis; and two great-grandchildren Zachary and Hayden, all of whom will miss his wisdom and humor.
He leaves us all with an amazing legacy to be proud of. He had a truly unique outlook on life, one that the rest of us will endeavor to carry on. As Bob’s wishes were to be cremated, there will be no immediate funeral or burial. Later this summer a memorial service will be held, followed by a ceremonial scattering of ashes in the waters off the Maryland shore where he will be reunited with Micki.
