Roy Edward Smith, age 76, passed away on September 1, 2019. He was born on February 21, 1943 in Maplesville, Alabama son of the late James B. and Everee (Cleckler) Smith. Roy joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He worked as a Deputy in Selma and Maplesville Alabama. He also was owner of Southern Oaks Restaurant and worked for The Orlando Department of Corrections for 7 years.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Donna of Cocoa; 3 sons James C. (Kathleen) Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, Robert Bruce Smith of Huntsville, Alabama, and Dennis (Kathy) Tomlin of St. Augustine, Florida; 2 daughters Leighann (Sarmad) Chaudhry of Saudi Arabia and Shellie (Richard) Peuhs of Cocoa, Florida; 4 sisters Birtie (Doug) Freeman of Moody, Alabama, Patricia (Eddie) Powell of Prattville, Alabama, Karen (David) Poe of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, and Chris (John) Green of Cottondale, Alabama.
A life celebration will be on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:00 am at Cascades Ammenity Center, 400 N. Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL 32092.
