She was born in Samson, Alabama.
She is survived by her daughter Sylvia; three sons Edward, Wade and Jeff; granddaughter Terah; Great-grandchildren Alistair, Emily and husband Van; great-great-granddaughter Skyla; brother Huey; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, mother Beatrice and father Reubin. Along with several brothers and sisters.
Shirley loved her family and was a substitute Mom for a lot of children. She was like the summer camp counselor with children at the house swimming and playing. Also an excellent cook, you never went hungry at her house. She also loved to travel, especially cruising with her sister and friends.
She was a loving, supportive mother, attending baseball games, working the concession stand, swim meets, soccer games and anything needed. A very hard worker she was the first to get up in the morning and the last to bed.
