Wilma was born in Otis, Kansas on June 8, 1937, into the large family of Dan and Lydia Brack. She married Robert (Bob) Anderson and had their utwo daughters. They lived in Japan, Kansas, and Oklahoma before they settled down in Merritt Island, Florida to raise their family and work in support of the space program. Bob predeceased Wilma by 50 years.
She found love again with William (Bill) Cody, her husband of 47 years. Wilma was an Administrative Assistant at the Kennedy Space Center for over 30 years and was employed by NASA and McDonnell-Douglas. She was passionate and proud of the part she played in support of space exploration. Many of her life-long friends she met during this time. Wilma and Bill retired from the Space Center and moved to Welaka, Florida to play on the St. John’s River.
Wilma lived her life to the fullest — she was a devoted wife, loving mother, dedicated daughter, sister and friend. She was an expert seamstress, enjoyed boating and water skiing, gardening, and traveling. She was an active member of Welaka’s United Methodist Church and the Women’s Club. When Wilma wasn’t rv-ing around the country, she was having fun with her growing family.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Orville, Dan, and Tom; and sisters, Evelyn, Dolores, Marlyn, and Bonnie. Wilma is survived by her brother Wilbur (Dianne), sister DeAnna (Tom), her daughters Debbie (Ken) and Sonja (Wayne), grandchildren (Jacob {Amanda}, Shelly, Robbie, Kenny {Paige}), great-grandchildren (Emma, Zoey, Logan), and many loving nieces and nephews.
Wilma touched the hearts of many, was always there to help, and did it all with style and grace. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. We know with her passing that our world will never be the same.
