

Ernest L. King passed away Sunday morning, November 30, 2014 with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife, Alice, children: Naomi (Ken) Troupe, Tabitha (Robert) Meringa, Nathan Walker, Mary (Darin) Sachs, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and a great grandchild.
“Ernie” was a member of the Coldwater First Baptist Church. He was very active in the community as a past board member of Big Brothers, Big Sisters as well as being a Big Brother for ten years. He founded Boy Scout Troop 449 in Coldwater, he was a past member and Chairman of the Board of Public Works when they brought in the sewer system for the Coldwater lakes, and he was a member of the Michigan United Conservation Club. Ernie retired from the Coldwater Post Office in 2009 and prior to that he worked for Gambles warehouse for 27 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His greatest joy was teaching youth the joys of fishing.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. Funeral services will take place Friday, December 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from the Coldwater First Baptist Church with Rev. David Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
