Her childhood education was accomplished at Slater, Lena Jean Campbell, Luther Judson Price High where she received numerous awards and was on the (highest honor roll). In 1966 she transferred to Charles L. Harper High School where she continued to excel and was on the Senior Honor Roll. After High School, she matriculated at the following Schools: Atlanta Technical School, Georgia Military College, Clayton State University, St. Leo University and Clayton State College where she received degrees in both Accounting, and Business Administration and received several Honors and Certificates.
Anita was first employed at VA Medical Center from 1969-1990. She was the first black woman in almost every department. She was presented with numerous awards and was the liaison for the VA District Counsel which was the most enjoyable position she had. In that position she transcribed the doctor’s notes, took depositions and made numerous appearances in court as the medical records librarian. In 1990 she transferred to FAA as an Accounting Manager in the Payroll Division where she oversaw eight women and one man. She received many awards for Excellence in training her Technicians during her 17 years of employment there. She retired her position in 2007.
Anita rejoined the Seventh Day Adventist Church (West End) on April 29, 2006. Everyone knows that Anita loved to sing and she joined the Rose of Sharon Choir, She also became a member of a Special Group that was formed called “Majestically Chosen” in which sang throughout Atlanta, GA.
Anita leaves to mourn in these trying times: Her loving husband Leroy Roberts of 46 years, Two Beautiful children who she adored and loved. Stacie Nicole Roberts-Mathis (Lawrence) and Leroy “Robbie” Shermaine Roberts (Ronica). Her mother Luella Fairfax Johnson, her father Sherman H. Johnson, Jr. who proceeded her in death. Her Two Sisters Gwendolyn Jean Shy (Willie), Shirley Ann Nelson (Richard); Granddaughters - Britney Monique Odom, Sydnee Michelle Mathis, Ajonique Mathis; Grandsons - Nathan Terrell Roberts, Lawrence Mathis, Jr.; Great-Granddaughters - Kalani Ava Simpson & Au’brie Mathis; In-Laws Willie James Roberts, Gwen Hart-Scott, Bo Hart (Pamela) & Vivian Oliver (George); Her Three nieces who were just like her own children: Tresa Lynette Clark (Johnny), Karen Denise Adams, Deana Renee Thomas and a Host of other Nieces, Nephews and Friends who all loved her very much.
Anita really loved the lord. She was loved so much and will be greatly missed.
