Max E Smith

Max E Smith went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on October 15, 2021. Max was born in Owosso, Michigan February 21, 1927. Preceding Max in death were the two loves of his life Josephine (Marlow) Smith and Joann (Smiley) Smith.

He was a faithful servant for over sixty years as a pastor of the Christian Church. He served churches in Indiana, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. He loved preaching and teaching the Word of God. He led a Bible Study up until the time of his death on the 4th floor of Sparks Inn, of Christian City, in Union City, Ga.

Max is survived by his; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy Max Smith (Deborah) of Milledgeville, Daniel Joe Smith (Deborah) of Bradenton, FL; stepsons, James Harry (Jim) Smiley Jr. (Mitzi) of Stone Mountain, Dr. Tom Smiley (Terri) of Gainesville.; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren.

Max's sons and family wish to express great appreciation to the Smiley family for their kindness, love and faithfulness to Max during his last years. In addition, the family expresses thankfulness for the ministry and love of Lester Road Christian Church.

Max described himself as: ”A fellow struggler who loved the Lord, His Church and His people.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Max & Jo Smith Scholarship Fund at Johnson University. CHECKS should be made payable to JOHNSON UNIVERSITY and mailed to 7900 Johnson Drive, Knoxville, TN 37998 with a note that it is in memory of Max Smith.
