

Ovis Ann Woolen Smith of Atlanta, loving wife, mother and grandmother departed this life on May 9, 2017 at the age of eighty-three. Ovis was born April 25th, 1934 to the late Paul and Eufala Woolen in Spartanburg South Carolina. There she met and married her one true love and moved with him to Atlanta where they raised their family.
Ovis’ life was dedicated to the care of her family, and her love for them was her driving force. With true southern grace and wisdom, she gently guided them with her hands and her prayers. A lover of the outdoors, she used her remarkable green thumb to create a beautiful home full of flowers. Her doors and her heart were always open to anyone, and she fed them not only delicious food, but also a steady stream of encouragement to follow their heart.
She was predeceased by her children Phillip Smith, Ann Smith Nixon and Wavelyn Smith, Jr. and her loving husband of 66 years, Wavelyn Smith. She is survived by her daughter Eva Smith Creech, ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 12th at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, GA 30349. The family will receive visitors and friends on Thursday, May 11th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm
