

Sophia Renee Carson was born on December 26, 1965, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, born the third of six children to Anderson Jackson Sr. and Ethel Demery. Sophia departed this life to go home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington, Georgia surrounded by her beloved husband, children and family.
Sophia met and married the love of her life, George Carson Sr. on April 19, 1986 in Louisiana and this family grew and prospered with their 3 sons.
Sophia completed her undergraduate degree at Amridge University where she majored in Communications Management and a Masters in Ministerial Leadership. She was pursuing her Doctoral degree in Family and Marriage Therapy and was a member of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education.
Pastor Sophia R. Carson was the Co-Founder and Co-Pastor of Bethel Gospel Ministry with her husband Pastor George Carson Sr. Her life was dedicated to living by example and encouraging men and women on how to live up to their full potential in Christ. God blessed her with a Women's Ministry whose objective was to empower and encourage women to walk in their destiny. She was a wife, mother, teacher, conference speaker, spiritual advisor, role model, mentor, and entrepreneur. One of her specialties was her delicious praline candy which led to the founding of Sophia’s Pralines. Sophia enjoyed cruising to various countries including Italy and Greece as well as many Caribbean Islands. She was an avid reader and stock market investor.
Sophia had a way of making everyone feel loved and cared for, always welcoming, warm and kind. Her joyful spirit brought light and laughter; her presence will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, George Carson Sr.; Mother, Ethel Demery; Father, Anderson Jackson Sr.; Siblings, Mira Jackson, Anderson Jackson Jr. (Sujarwati), Felecia Grier (Robert), Shontelle Cornelius (Alphaeus) and Steve Watson; Children, ShaMicheal Jackson (Stephanie), George Carson Jr. and Thaddeus Carson (Ariel); Grandchildren, Sanai Jackson, Asher Carson, Xavier Jackson, and George Carson III; Nieces, Imani Akpuchuwu (Laz), Katelyn Vickers and Sheshe Fonata; Great Nephew, Cameron Akpuchukwu; Brother -in -Laws, Ken Carson Sr (Denise), Ron Carson (Adriane) and Kerry Carson; Sister-in-law, Andrea Carson (Charles Carson Sr. deceased); and a host of family members and special friends.
