Zemula Mae Hughes

Mae Hughes was born to the late Patsy Jo and Edward Miller, May 20, 1942. She was the fourth child of nine. She is preceded by siblings, Joyce, Pat, Sonny and Butch and survived by Nancy, Walker, Vickey and Susan.

She was married to the late Gene Cook until 1980 and then was married to the late Carlos Hughes until his death in 2003. She is survived by her children, Billy Cook and his wife, Regina, Angie Cook Stone and David Cook. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Miss Mae was affectionately known as “Nanny” to her grands and many others. She was a constant, loving presence to her family, and they loved her beyond words. She had a very warm personality that many people were drawn to. Many have said she was a shining light and beacon of a giving soul. She was a faithful, loyal and dedicated Christian; always so happy to share her faith with others.

She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her!

A visitation for Zemula will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, GA 30349. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 12:00 PM. A burial will occur at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
