

Dale Watts, Class of ’71, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on August 10, 2012 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 13, 2012 at Central Baptist Church, with interment to follow at the Aggie Field of Honor. Pallbearers will be Mitch Robertson, Mike Fields, Dave Elmendorf,Craig Scott, Jacob Green, Andy Tewell, Joey Herr, and Larry Mariott. Honorary Pallbearers are Britt Rice, Amos Black, Buzz Miller, and David Eisenbrown.
Mr. Watts was born in Roseberg, OR, the son of Leonard and Arebelle (Martin) Watts. He attended Texas A&M University on a football scholarship. He lettered with the Aggies coached by Gene Stallings in 1968 and 1969 before a knee injury ended his playing career. Mr. Watts is president of Upland Exploration, Inc., an independent oil and natural gas exploration company based in Houston. He is a member of the 12th Man Foundation, where he currently serves on the Board of Trustees, Texas A&M Letterman Association, and the Bryan/College Station Champions Council. He and his wife enjoy trips with the Traveling Aggies, attending Aggie athletics events and especially love visits from their grandchildren.
Mr. Watts was preceded in death by his mother, two sisters and a brother.
Survivors include his loving wife, Phoebe (Duckworth) Watts; father, Leonard Watts; children, Tiffany Hammer & her husband Rick, David Watts, Byron Soules & his wife Joanna, Derek Watts & his wife Kelly; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, Ethan, Cooper, John Byron, Jacob and Jordan.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial tributes to the 12th Man Foundation, Brazos Valley Boys and Girls Club or the American Heart Association.
