Dorothy Jean Reid

Born on May 31, 1929 in Wyandotte, Michigan, she was the daughter of John (Jack) and Margaret (Maggie) Cattell. Dottie moved with her husband and children to College Station, Texas in January 1966 and quickly adopted the state and Texas A&M as her own. Involvement with the University provided some of Dottie’s proudest moments, such as being a sponsor for Mamselles in TAMU Host and Fashion. She also ran the hotel at the MSC for years, winning a Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding service. She was a member of A&M United Methodist Church since 1977.

Dottie is survived by her husband of 72 years, Dr. Leslie M. Reid; her children, Michelle (Wayne) Edwards of Valdosta, Georgia, and John L.C. Reid of Kingman, Arizona; two grandchildren, Ashley (Sean) Wilson of Fairfax, Virginia, and Sarah Edwards of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one great-grandchild, Talulla Jean Wilson of Fairfax, Virginia; and her sister, Barbara Stawkey of Wyandotte, Michigan.

Visitation will be at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, April 25, 2022. Graveside services will be held at College Station Cemetery at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
