

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 4th at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A celebration of Bob's life is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 5th at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1001 Woodcreek Dr, College Station, TX 77845. Interment will follow at the College Station Cemetery.
Bob was born November 5, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Ernest Fraser and Marguerite MacFarland Page. He graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia in 1945. A World War II veteran, he enlisted in the United States Army and was sent to Virginia Military Institute and then to Armed Forces Radio Services for duty in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University in 1949 and MS/PhD from University of Illinois in 1955.
Bob held leadership positions with Esso Research and Engineering Company, as well as the University of Illinois and Stevens Institute of Technology. Bob was the head of the Department of Mechanical, Industrial, and Aerospace Engineering at Rutgers University for 15 years before becoming the Dean of Engineering at Texas A&M University and then held the James M. Forsyth Professor of Mechanical Engineering Endowed Chair until his retirement.
His research specialty was flow separation analysis and its application to practical problems, work for which he gained international recognition. He presented over 170 lectures and over 250 professional papers. He was noted for his research and teaching on non-isoenergetic supersonic base flow, thermodynamic second law solution of subsonic base flow, and impingement jet flows. Under his tutelage and guidance, his students have been honored for excellence in many areas of engineering. Bob thought his principle accomplishments to be the development of strong, successful engineering education programs.
In 1984, he was honored as the first non-German scientist to be appointed an Honorary Professor at Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany. He was elected to many scientific societies and was a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Society of Engineering Education, the American Institute of Aeronautics, the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, the American Astronautical Society, and fellow of the American Association for Advancement of Science. He was a leader on various national task forces and was a past president of the American Society for Engineering Education and past chair of the American Society of Engineering Education Academy of Fellows. He was awarded the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics 50-year pin commemorating his 50 years of contributions to the advancement of the arts, science, and technology of aeronautics and astronautics at Texas A&M and the Johnson Space Center.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Lola Marie Griffin Page. They met on a blind date on May 10th 1947. They were married on November 12, 1948. During their nearly 68-year marriage they lived in Illinois, New Jersey and Texas. A member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in College Station, Bob served as an usher, greeter, lay reader and member of the council and finance committees. Bob also served on the board of Twin City Mission.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Margie Page Grim; and brother, Ernest Fraser Page, Jr.
He is survived by his children Linda Page (College Station, TX), Jim and Patty Page Peeples (Southern Pines, NC), Bill and Theresa Page (Kerrville, TX), Bob and Nancy Page Ritzi (Beavercreek, OH) and Marty and Cynthia Page (Southlake, TX); his grandchildren Jimmy and Victoria Peeples (Mesa, AZ); Richard and Emily Peeples Bauguss (Denver, NC) Kyle and Jordan Page (Ft. Collins, CO); Ryan and Callie Page (Denver, CO); Bobby Ritzi (Columbus, OH); Evan and Katharine Ritzi Cameron (Urbandale, IA); Bryant Page (Arlington, TX) and Connor Page (Southlake, TX); his three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, family, and loved ones.
While Bob’s professional achievements were many, he remained humble and will always be remembered for his enthusiasm for life, positive attitude, smile, and his love of family.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 1001 Woodcreek Dr. College Station, Tx 77845 or Aggieland Humane Society, 5359 Leonard Road Bryan TX 77807 or a charity of one’s choice.
