

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 1st from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 2nd at the College Station City Cemetery, 2530 Texas Avenue South in College Station with Reverend Rick Sitton officiating.
Ed was born on December 28, 1923 in Compass Lake, Florida, the only child of Irene Calhoun and Aaron Henderson. After the loss of his father, he began his working career delivering newspapers at the early age of 6 to help support his family. At age 12, he and his mother moved to Texas where he became a committed Texan for life. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston where he played football. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II as an Air Craft Mechanic.
Ed returned to the Houston Area and began working for the Shell Oil Company in Deer Park, retiring after 39 years of service as a Training Instructor. He loved the beach in Galveston, Texas where he had a home. He also loved ranching, the Texas Lotto, Blue Bell Ice Cream, and Texas Longhorn Football. He was very active in the College Station New Comers Club where he loved to play Liverpool Rummy.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Mary; and a grandson, Scott Linerode.
He is survived by his wife Laura Key of College Station; his daughter Dr. Kathleen Burford and her husband James of Las Vegas, Nevada and her children, Amy Fewox and husband Craig of Broomfield Colorado and Todd Burford of Las Vegas, Nevada, and great-grandchild Logan Scott Fewox; step-daughter, Ann Rife and husband Wayne and their children Heather, Kimberly, and Laura Ann, all of College Station.
The family has requested that memorials be made to Scotty’s House, 2424 Kent St, Bryan, TX 77802.
