

Ernest “Ernie” Albert Prochaska was born July 24, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas. He went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2026, at his home in College Station, Texas. Born to Marie and Frank Prochaska, Ernie had three brothers, Frank, Robert, and Bernard.
In 1947, Ernie enrolled at Texas Christian University and subsequently enrolled at Arlington State College in 1948. Later he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1951, Ernie married Dorothy “Dotty” Pekar, and they moved to California, where he served at Camp Pendleton, CA.
After completing his service in the U.S. Marine Corps, Ernie enrolled at the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas and graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Ernie was the first Texas A&M graduate in his family and began the Aggie Legacy for the Prochaska Family with dozens of graduates. He began his career at Hughes Tool Co. and in 1957 completed a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering at the University of Houston.
Ernie and Dotty had five children: Ernie, Andrea, Gery, Robin and Matt. Ernie committed his life to his Savior Jesus Christ and made a public profession of faith in May of 1993, where he and Dotty were baptized together along with their granddaughter, Courtney.
Ernie and Dotty moved back to College Station in 1996 and joined Grace Bible Church where Ernie joined Bible Study Fellowship. During these years they travelled to many countries around the world. In 2005, Ernie retired from the oil and gas industry. In 2006, after 55 years of marriage, Dotty went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After her passing, Ernie was involved in several international mission trips. He was involved in the inaugural class of Community Bible Study in College Station, serving as class administrator. He served on the Hope Pregnancy board and volunteered at the Brazos Church Pantry.
In 2008, he met Arla Gammon. They married in 2010. Arla and Ernie loved to dance, play cards and dominos, and generously supported many local charities.
Ernie is preceded in death by his wife Dotty Prochaska, his parents Marie and Frank Prochaska, his brothers Frank Prochaska and Bernard Prochaska. Ernie is survived by his wife, Arla Gammon Prochaska and his brother Bob Prochaska. He is also survived by his children: Ernie Prochaska (Lynn), Andrea Derrig (Greg), Gery Prochaska, Robin Kurylo (Boh), and Matt Prochaska (Merrilee), as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren, Arla’s children, Greg Gammon (Angelique) and Marla Thomas (Bob), Arla’s grandchildren, and Sam and Joy Ryu and their children and grandchild, whom he considered as family.
Ernie’s family would like to express sincere appreciation to Lavone Bradley, who cared for and served Ernie and Arla over the past years.
There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, May 31st at 3 PM, at Christ Church, located at 4201 Texas 6 Frontage Road, College Station, TX 77845.
