

Violet was born on October 29, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas to Charles and Irene Smith of Medina.
On August 25, 1962, Violet married the love of her life, Joe L. Norwood. The couple resided in Lamesa, Texas for 11 years before moving to College Station in 1973.
Violet was employed at A&M Consolidated High School as a library aide and media technician for 10 years. Prior to this, she was a stay-at-home mom, Girl Scout Cadet Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and was active with Little League Baseball, soccer and flag football programs. Violet was also a member of the Opti-Mrs. Club in Lamesa.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 2001 and her youngest son, Lance in 2019.
Violet is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann, and husband, John D. Wolf, III of Belton, TX and son, Joe L. Norwood and wife, Renee, of Quinlan; seven grandsons, five great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Violet is also survived by two sisters, Naomi Mudd of Medina and Hazel Giles of Lawson, MO.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, from 6 pm until 8 pm. Funeral service will be held at Beacon Baptist in Bryan on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 2 pm. Burial will follow at the College Station City Cemetery.
Pallbearers include John D. Wolf IV, Bradley A. Wolf, Cody W. Wolf, Dustin J. Wolf, Lance A. Norwood, Jr. and James R. Scott.
