Bob Powell- it is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Bob Powell on October 8, 2014, after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. But there is peace to be found in knowing that he slipped from the arms of his wife Victoria, surrounded by loved ones, into the Light of The Lord and found Heavenly Healing.
Celebration of Life- a private family celebration to honor Bob's life will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 16th ( nothing interferes with tax season according to Bob) at Blue Bonnet Hills in Colleyville. Bob was a private person and this was his request.
Memorials- in lieu of flowers Bobby would love gifts to charity. Three of his favorite were Texas Oncology Foundation, to recognize the wonderful care from Dr Richey and his nurse Molly who were so loving and supporting during his illness. Women Steering Business, a group of local businesswomen, including his wife and many friends, who buy steers raised by girls at the
Fort Worth Stock Show for scholarships, and Tarrant County Food Bank.
Bobby was born to Audrey and Robert Powell in Texarkana, Texas. He was brother to 5 siblings; David, Brenda, Richard, Ronnie and Connie.
Bob left Texarkana and went to the University of Texas at Arlington, where he received his BBA in Accounting and Economics. He became a CPA and worked in Public Accounting until his death. He lived the majority of his life in Arlington with his wife Victoria where they raised their son Todd. They spent the last few years as residents of Fort Worth where they were actively involved in the community.
He had a lifelong passion for learning and always had a tax law or some other book in his hands. He loved to travel the world and experience different cultures and walk the streets with the native people. He felt those were the most educational and real learning experiences in life. He loved his work and his clients and small intimate gatherings with friends. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father and "Poppy" to his two grandchildren Caitlin and Mason and he counted his love for his family and God the most important things in his life.
Psalm 91" He is my refuge and my fortress...my God, in whom I trust."
