
Carl E. Zachary went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 10, 2016. He was 86. Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at Haltom Road Baptist Church. Interment to follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Carl was born in Hollis, Oklahoma., to Ray and Beulah Zachary. He had a brother, Don, and a sister, Regina. He spent his formative years in Oklahoma, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after finishing high school. He served in Korea with H/3/1, Company H, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, and was part of the battle at the Chosin Reservoir. Upon his return, he married Donna Haness on Nov. 11, 1951. He spent 30 years in the Marine Corps Reserve, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. After serving in Korea, Carl graduated from Central State College and then moved with his family to Fort Worth to work for the IRS, retiring after 30 years. Carl moved to Haltom City in 1962 where he was a member and later a deacon at Haltom Road Baptist Church. He was very involved in all activities of the church. Carl was predeceased by his parents; his siblings; and Donna, his wife of 60 years. Survivors: Children, Theresa Robinson and her husband, Phil, son, David Zachary and his wife, Shanon, daughter, Janet Hill and her husband, Charlie; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
