Carlen Allison Whitbourne

COLLEYVILLE -- Carlen Allison McDonald Whitbourne, age 64, of Colleyville and previously of Coral Springs, Fla., passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at home.

Service: and viewing will take place at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 6, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville. For more information, please call the funeral home at 817-498-5894. A reception will follow at Suzanne and Demetri Jobson's home in Colleyville.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, our family would prefer a donation to help support Peta-Gaye's children, Alex and Madison, in their grandmother's honor.

Carlen was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, on Sept. 22, 1949, to Myra McKenzie McDonald and the late Claude McDonald. After graduating from Ardenne High School in 1967, she began a career in banking. She married David Whitbourne on Nov. 9, 1969.

Carlen was an avid event organizer, gardener and master chef. She embraced life and celebrated each accomplishment of her family. She was a proud mother.

A third daughter, Peta-Gaye Sonya Whitbourne DeRoy, predeceased her mother on May 14, 2010.

Survivors: Carlen is survived by her mother, Myra McDonald; children, Suzanne Karen Whitbourne Jobson of Colleyville and Debra Theresa Whitbourne Auguste of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, Cameron Anthony Jobson, Ethan Patrick Auguste, Sienna Anne Jobson, Alexander Lynden DeRoy, Lucas Jackson Auguste, Gabriella McKenzie Auguste and Madison Rosella DeRoy; and five siblings, Priestly McDonald, Monica Peterman, Melvis McDonald, Donovan McDonald and Deneene McDonald Graham.
