Catherine “Cathy” Louise Coursey Gordon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering faith. Cathy was a lifetime resident of the Fort Worth, Texas area. After graduation from Haltom High School, in 1969, she attended the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated in 1973, with a bachelor’s degree in English.
Cathy spent her entire professional career in banking, where she ultimately achieved one of her many goals, which was to become Bank President. At one point in her career, she managed three banks at one time. Challenging for certain, but she was always willing to accept a challenge. Cathy became known not only for her strong work ethic and professionalism, but also for the compassion and warmth she showed to customers and coworkers alike. Over the years, she built lasting friendships and earned the respect of all who had the privilege of working beside her. For most of her career, she worked for Wells Fargo Bank, and after 42 years of banking service, she retired while managing Liberty Bank, in North Richland Hills.
A woman of deep faith, Cathy was actively involved in her church at St. Luke United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member. She generously gave her time to countless church activities and served on numerous Committees through the years, including Chair of the Finance Committee, for the past 17 years. She had a deep love of music, with a beautiful soprano voice, and sang in the Chancel Choir sharing her gifts. Together, Cathy and her husband, Art, were active members of the Genesis Sunday School Class, and they cherish the friendships they made. Cathy was a true and faithful servant, with a caring spirit, which touched many lives and will continue to inspire those who knew her.
After leaving High School, a core group of girls became lifelong friends, who stayed in touch throughout their days of college, weddings, children, grandchildren, holiday gatherings, luncheons, and years of traveling from New York to California. The gals group of about 20 women, call themselves, “The Yaya's", and they enjoy their time spent together, sharing their life stores with each other. Cathy was able to spend some time with many of these gals during this past April and May.
Hot Springs, Arkansas, held a special place in Cathy's heart. She found great joy in traveling to her and Art's vacation home there. She affectionately called this home her “happy place” and enjoyed every minute while being there. She dearly loved Hot Springs for its beauty, peace, and the treasured memories made with family and friends. She and Art hosted several Genesis Sunday School class gatherings in their home, and these times brought her great happiness. She and Art loved going out on the gazebo or the sun porch spending time talking or sharing meals there. She enjoyed driving around seeing the beautiful flowers and landscaping of the golf courses.
Most importantly, Cathy cherished family. She was a loving mother to Cory. She loved him dearly and was always there to protect and support him. Cathy was married to Art for 13 years, and together, they were planning to return to Hawaii to renew their wedding vows. They cherished and loved each other, and Art is so thankful for the time he and Cathy shared.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Lou Coursey, and her younger brother, Ed Coursey. She is survived by her husband, Art Gordon of North Richland Hills and family; her son, Stanley C. (Cory) Davis, Jr., and his wife and son of Weatherford; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at St, Luke United Methodist Church in Haltom City. Public visitation will be at Bluebonnet Funeral Home, in Colleyville, from 5-7 pm, on Tuesday, June 2nd.
Though Cathy will be missed, her legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in all who knew her.
