Brother Doug and his family remain in my thoughts and prayers.

To the family of Brother Doug,
I really miss the fellowship and the teachings of Brother Doug! In this day and time with issues that we all face, I miss the opportunity to sit down with someone such as Brother Doug and bare my soul and have him put his arm around me and comfort and share with me what the Bible really says! He was such an amazing man and a very godly biblical scholar who had a fantastic way of sharing the Bible that made it easy to understand and comprehend. I was blessed to be in Bellevue Baptist Church as a youth and have Brother Doug as my pastor. Someday, I will be able to sit down with him again and exchange fellowship. May God continue to bless and comfort his family, knowing he is very missed and loved. Thank you for sharing him with all of us.

I have fond memories of going to Pastor Doug's church (the first church I had attended after being raised as a Catholic). He was so kind to me and inspiring!

I was looking for contact information so I could write Doug. I am saddened to hear of his passing and pray for the Lord to comfort you in this time of loss. Brother Doug meant a lot to me. He, Dudley and Ken first ordained me in the ministry to serve as a military chaplain in 1992. He was a kind and loving man, and Restoration church under his care not only preached the Gospel, but looked after the least, the lost and the lonely. He was always supportive even when God led Judy and I to the Catholic and Anglican tradition of faith. I wish that there were more pastors who had his heart, character, and integrity.

What a man! Bro Doug was/is one of the finest men alive! He is what I called the “Velvet Hammer”! I never heard him raise his voice but every time I had the privilege of hearing him, he taught me something I had never thought of! I had the honor of literally sitting at Bro Doug feet while we were camping and ate up every word that came out of his wonderful mouth! I also had the great privilege of getting to take him on a couple of trips so he could give sermons/talks and had him all to myself including once in the far north end of the panhandle of Texas! I grew so much!! Then he became one of my mentors when I was at The Church in Peaster when he took the Board of Elders under his wing! How warm and comfortable it was there! Bro Doug will be missed but the ones I am most sorry for was those who never knew him! Rest in Peace my dear Servant of the Lord!

Brother Doug married us in 1983. We flew him in from California to do the ceremony, because we COULDN'T have anyone else! We loved him with our whole hearts and will miss him just as much. We had so much fun "working out" with him at the Hurst Senior Center for several years. Our loss is Doug's and Heaven's gain, but it sure is a big loss. I will miss his always greeting, "Hello Beloved!" Blessings on you Larie, Sherrice, Doug, Jay, and Chris, and your families. We grieve and rejoice with you all!


So many precious memories of Brother Doug & his whole family as a young married couple at Restoration Church! We will miss him greatly! We love you all & will continue to lift you up to our Lord.

The years I spent at Bellevue under Bro. Doug built a strong foundation of faith in my life that has carried me through the years. I'm grateful for his solid biblical preaching, and his life with Larie as an example of serving as a team. I was blessed to know them.  
Bro. Doug was a leader that sought to equip the saints for the work of ministry. His and Larie's encouragement during my youth days provided me with the foundation for my years of service later.

So sad to hear this news.  Doug was my Pastor from 1973-1977 while at Bellevue Baptist Church. He did the baby dedication for my oldest daughter in early 1974. He also was my Pastor when I was ordained in the Deacon Council at BBC.  I will always remember the uplifting sermons he preached.  His life was a life well lived and now he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior.   My life was influenced by how Doug was able to lead our Church through some difficult situations. Also everything he did to lead our Church according to God's Word.   To Larie and the family my prayers and love to your husband, father and grandfather.....Joe and Donna White

Wonderful Pastor and man. He married my wife and I back in 1976 at Bellevue Baptist in Hurst. My favorite Pastor of all time. Thoughts and prayers for the family.



Wonderful man of God and was my pastor for a number of years. Our Father used Doug to show me what God's grace looks like. When I asked him to conduct my wife's memorial service he graciously agreed, and did a marvelous job. After the service was concluded he and his wonderful bride came and visited for several hours in my home. He was such a great teacher too so many and I will be forever grateful for knowing him. Grace peace and comfort to his wonderful family.

Bro Doug ALWAYS had a word from the Lord or a word of encouragement when he greeted someone.  Forever the vessel of love and servant of Christ.  He exemplified the example of a life lived to "Be like Jesus".  I always felt as tho I had been in the presence of a true and rare image of Christ when he was near.  He was a treasure to all who were blessed to have had times of fellowship with him or to have sat under his ministry.  He had a way of teaching and sharing Christ that was so full of revelation knowledge that it left no doubt that he received his sermons straight from the throne.  Earth has lost  a saint. 

Many years ago at Restoration Church when we did a musical show.
My favorite memories of him was when he was in Alaska, and got to go fishing with my brother-in-law and some other man from the church. He was in hog heaven with all that fishing. And I can still hear him singing “Day by Day.
You were a wonderful father figure to all of us and will be greatly missed.

What a wonderful impact Brother Doug had on me and countless others in our years at Bellevue Baptist Church.  I am forever grateful for the foundation of faith he built in me and my family.  Such treasured memories of a simpler time in life.  
Many many prayers for this special servant of God and his family.  



We love this memory of Brother Doug. One of his favorite sayings was “Just get over it”. It will be difficult getting over this loss, but time is on our side., Rick and I will see him shortly . So honored to know him. Pat Shields

To the family of brother Doug you do not know how sad this makes me. I dearly dearly loved brother Doug he was an amazing individual. God certainly blessed us with having the ability to see in here and get to know brother Doug I shall always finally remember many times that I got to interact with him both at camp and it church service, he truly made my life much much richer.
