Cynthia Anne (Conklin) Gotcher lost her battle with cancer on December 12, 2015 and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Cindy was born in Hinsdale, Illinois and moved with her family at an early age to South America, where she grew up in Lima, Peru, Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil. She attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and graduated from Florida International University in Miami. Fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish, Cindy joined the very first class of Portuguese-speaking flight attendants at American Airlines when they began flying to Brazil from DFW in 1982. She loved flying for American and relished the opportunity to enjoy her love of travel with a profession she also loved. Through her work she made countless friends and shared her faith in her "private ministry" with many other flight attendants and staff in numerous countries. Whether through her family, her work, her neighborhood or her daughters’ school or sports, if you were her friend, you knew it and benefited from it. Cindy was preceded in death by her father Roger D. Conklin of Miami. Survivors: Husband Jim Gotcher and daughter Sarah Gotcher of Colleyville, daughter Rachel Armstrong and husband Frank Armstrong and grandson Cooper Armstrong of Euless; mother Nancy Conklin of Miami; sister Susan Conklin of Washington, DC; brother David Conklin and husband George Schuebert of Washington, DC; sister Amanda Spallone and husband Troy Spallone of Miami, FL and numerous extended family members who will miss her servant's heart, quick wit and love of family.
