

Darrel Edwin Wilson, 78, of North Richland Hills, Texas - formerly of Richland Center, Wisconsin -passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at home on July 8, 2025.
He was born on September 11, 1946, in Richland Center to Leonard and Violet (Sherman) Wilson and was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1964.
Darrel entered the U.S. Army on May 23, 1966. He served in Vietnam from January to September 1967, when he was wounded in action. After his recovery, he continued his service as Drill Sergeant at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, until his honorable discharge in May 1968.
He married Linda Wendt on June 15, 1968, in Richland Center.
Darrel is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Heidi Wilson of Coppell, Texas, and Traci Wilson-Goodman of Mayfield, Kentucky; and adopted son, Justin Reed of Watauga, Texas. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Zayne Goodman, Mallee Goodman, J.J. Reed, and Makenna Reed.
Additional survivors include sisters-in-law Carol Rego of Green Bay, Susan (Mike) Lawrence of Hillsboro, and Karen (Charlie) Vesbach of Platteville, along with several nieces, nephews, and special longtime friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Herb and Helen Wendt; brothers Leonard (Donnalene) Wilson Jr., Gordon (Karen) Wilson, and Tom (Beverly) Wilson; sisters Evelyn (Clint) Johnson, Eleanor Wilmot, and Ardella (Buford) Shepherd; his close friend Gene "Pussycat" Thompson; and his faithful dog, Betty.
As requested, no services will be held. Internment at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
