Donald L. Goodman

Don graduated from James Madison Memorial High School, Madison, Wisconsin, in 1975. Don then graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981, followed by a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1982. During his time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he fenced for the University, earning a NCAA Division I ranking.

After moving states a few times for his job in the defense industry, Don accepted a job in Arlington, Texas and met his wife, Catherine Hendren Goodman, through mutual friends in 1996. He and Catherine married on June 19, 1999, settling in Grapevine, Texas.

Don achieved a lot during his lifetime, but he was most proud of his children, Michael D. Goodman (age 21) and Andrew J. Goodman (age 17). Don loved spending time with his boys and their hobbies, which included hundreds of baseball games and corresponding car trips.

Don knew a lot about many things. A self-taught musician, he mastered numerous musical instruments and enjoyed playing with his bands over the years. Don enjoyed golf, reading, and discussing politics with just about anyone who would listen.

Don’s parents and brother, Henry E. Goodman, predeceased him, as did his father-in-law, John W. Hendren, Jr. Don is survived by his wife, Catherine, their sons, Michael and Andrew, his brothers Gary M. Goodman, James M. Goodman (Deanna) and Peter L. Goodman, his nieces Rebecca M. Goodman and Alice E. Lee, and nephew Thomas J. Goodman. His mother-in-law, Lynne M. Hendren, and sister-in-law, Christine A. Hendren, also survived him.

Don’s family wishes to thank the physicians, nurses, and care providers at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas for their care and compassion during his illness.

A private graveside service will be held at Bluebonnet Hills in Colleyville, Texas, followed later by a Celebration of Life, with details forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, donations for Don’s children’s college expenses can be made at any Frost Bank location, in care of the Donald Goodman Memorial Fund. Likewise, donations to the American Cancer Society (melanoma research) in Don’s memory or Baylor University Medical Center-Dallas, would be appreciated.
