Donald W. Truitt passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016, due to renal failure. He was 82 years of age. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Memorials: Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or your local animal shelter. Don was born in Iowa, but spent his youth in Southern California. He moved to Texas in 1969. He excelled in all sports and earned a football scholarship to the University of Oregon. While there, he also played baseball and ran track. Don served in the Army during the Korean War. He later worked for Boeing Aviation for 15 years, but retired from JCPenney as a furniture buyer, after 30 years of service. Don's passion was golf and was an avid Rangers fan. Survivors: Don is survived by his wife, Seretta; daughter, Lisa Venino and husband, Rick; granddaughters, Lainey and Lauren Venino; daughter, Elizabeth Beam and husband, Mark; stepdaughter, Janice Zeller and her husband, Walter; and stepson, Phillip Dunlap and wife, Paula and extended family.
