Mr. Dwight Reeves Grantham

Dwight was born on December 31, 1935 in Gregg County Texas to Reeves Burkett Grantham and Ruby Inez Archer. Sadly, he lost his mother at the age of two years. His father remarried and Dwight was lovingly raised by Dottie Hopkins. As with many families during this time his family moved and lived in several places. He graduated from Thornton High School in Thornton Arkansas.

Dwight later attended and graduated from Jacksonville Baptist College in Jacksonville Texas. There he met Nancy Ann McCord and they married on June 27, 1958. He was called into the ministry and served as a pastor at several churches in Louisiana and Texas. They had one son Michael Lynn born in 1962. Although their marriage did not work out they remained friends until the time of his death.

On November 25, 1974 Dwight married the love of his life Darlene McMillan. They made their home in Dallas where Dwight was still living until his death. They were married 46 years until her death in 2021.

After leaving the ministry Dwight worked as a salesman for Sears & Roebuck, later he was a Manufactures' Representative with D & D sales. In the 80’s Dwight started his own lawn care business and maintained that up until 2017.

Dwight was a member of First Baptist Church of Dallas for over 50 years. He enjoyed spending most of those years serving in the choir for First Baptist Church of Dallas. If you knew Dwight you knew how much he loved music and singing. He and Darlene also spent many years serving with the Texas Baptist Men. They traveled to many states, helping to build several churches and leading backyard bible schools.

Dwight is survived by his son Michael Lynn Grantham and his wife Rebecca of Greenville Texas, grandsons Shawn Grantham and wife Rachel of Greenville Texas, Seth Grantham of Terrell Texas, granddaughter Ellesia Grantham of Northlake Texas. Also, brothers Phillip Grantham and wife Debbie of Bearden Arkansas, Dan Grantham and wife Nancy of Magnolia Arkansas, sisters Vickie Grantham of Little Rock Arkansas and Aryana Grantham of Seattle Washington.

He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, parents Reeves and Ruby, step-mother Dottie and brother George Grantham.

A visitation for Dwight will be held Monday, December 26, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034.
