Eldon Wesley King was called home to be with the Lord on June 10, 2025. Eldon was born in Waurika, Oklahoma on April 6, 1935, the last child of Ray and Luella King. Eldon’s parents and siblings (Vayden and Evelyn) have already gone to be with the Lord.
Eldon graduated from Sayre High School in Oklahoma, served overseas in the US Army from 1958 to 1960, came back to complete his education at Oklahoma State and eventually ended up working as an engineer at Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth, TX. While working at Bell, Eldon volunteered as a Big Brother and joined the Richland Hills Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and eventually became an ordained Deacon.
On December 28, 1974, Eldon married his forever love, Sammye, and they spent more than 50 years loving each other and quietly doing God’s work here on earth. Although Eldon didn’t have any children of his own, he stepped up to be the father that he didn’t have to be for Sammye’s children, Dana Thompson Young and Rick Thompson.
Eldon is survived by his loving wife Sammye along with her children and their spouses, Rick and Nora Thompson and Dwayne and Dana Young and numerous nephews and nieces. Additional survivors include Eldon and Sammye’s grandchildren J.D. and Tiffani Thompson and their children Charli and Gaits; Amanda Thompson and her daughter Makenna; Dustin and Caitlyn Wilkinson and their children, Kinley, Adley, and Briggs; Beau and Chelsea Buchholz and their daughter Hallie; Dylan and Hannah Young.
