

Ernest Franklin Johns was born Wednesday, August 18, 1937 at the home of his parents, Elnora and Ralph Johns in Broken Arrow, OK. He was an only child. Ernie attended grade school in Tulsa, OK. He and his mother returned to Broken Arrow after his father moved to California. He lived with her until he joined the Navy.
While in the Navy Ernie served on the USS Hancock, the US38 where he went to Ships Company on the US Princeton. Although his ship traveled to Viet Nam it was not during war time.
After serving in the Navy, Ernie returned stateside and joined his mother and stepfather, Jesse Spears in Fort Worth, Texas. He went to work at Stratoflex with Jesse.
He met and married his first wife, Jo Ann and together they had three sons, Johnny, Paul and Carl.
After a layoff at Stratoflex he floated for about a year before going to work for Menasco where he spent 35 years before being offered early retirement about 1998.
Ernie and his second wife, Pamela, were married in 1997. They were active in square dancing and played bridge and Texas Hold’m at the Hurst Senior Center. During early retirement he enjoyed woodworking in his garage. For a time, he was a member of St Paul Methodist Church in Hurst.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; sons: Paul and his wife Amy, Carl and Johnny; cousins Larry of Arkansas and Linda of Broken Arrow, OK; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A visitation for Ernie will be held Monday, March 28, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, Texas 76034, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
