

Essie Merle Johnson, 84, of Fort Worth was called to her heavenly home on October 26, 2017. Essie was born on August 2, 1933 to parents, William Thomas Mizell and Zelda Sypert Mizell in Marshall, Texas. She was the eldest of seven children and was a native to East Texas. After graduating high school, at the age of 18, Essie traveled to Fort Worth and made it her home. In Fort Worth, Essie married Harry Johnson, who she was married to for 18 years. They had 3 daughters, Linda, Debbie and Carol. Essie loved, provided, and cared for her daughters and was a fantastic mother. This later developed in to her great love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anything that involved family, making beautiful memories and spending time together with her children and grandchildren, further filled her heart with joy. In her later years Essie specially enjoyed trying new foods and dining out with family. Essie was a very active member of the congregation at Midway Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and loved spending time singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday school, participating in Children’s Camp activities, and Girls Auxiliary. Her favorite time of year was Christmas and she had an ever growing Christmas list. Essie loved to crochet and enjoyed crafting. She often loved to find a bargain at a garage sale and did not like to pass up a deal. Essie will be remembered for her joy in life and her love for family. She will be missed by those blessed to have called her a beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Essie is survived by her daughters, Linda Terry and husband, Rex, of Springtown, Texas, Debbie Dorman and husband, Rodney , From North Richland Hills, Texas, Carol Womack and husband, James, of Fort Worth, Texas; Grandchildren, Jeffrey Womack and wife, Amy, of Azle, Texas, Krystal Ecker and husband, Anthony, of Fort Worth, Texas, T.J. Shockler and wife, Rachael, of Springtown, Texas, Clinton Womack and fiancé, Megan Cates, of Benbrook, Texas, Joseph Blake Dorman, and fiancé, Kate Elliott of North Richland Hills, Texas, Clayton Terry of San Diego, California; Great-grandchildren, Bryce Womack, Cooper Womack, Gunner Womack and Avery Shockler; siblings, Mary Nell Bodovsky and husband, Don, of White Oak, Texas, Dorothy Myers, of Longview, Texas, Carolyn Carroll, of Henderson, Texas, Doyle Mizell and wife, Joyce of Kilgore, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
