Frank Leonard was many things. He was intelligent, creative, thoughtful, kind, generous, and most of all loved. This gentle man was blessed with the love of his mother, his father, his sister Barbara, his wife Brenda and her whole extended family. Brenda called Frank "the Love of my life". Indeed, they shared twenty-five years of joy in marriage. Frank returned that love to everyone. He was a devoted husband, a caring brother, and an affectionate "adopted" grandfather to Brenda's three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. There was no more loving a man than Frank Leonard.
Frank was born in Pittsburgh on August 16, 1947. This is where he spent his youth and early adulthood. Frank loved R&B music and collected rare records, which led into his initial career in music. After leaving his job at National Record Mart, he moved to Boston where his sister Barbara lived. There he was hired by Fidelity, beginning a long career with that institution as a financial consultant. When Fidelity opened their Texas branch in Las Colinas in 1985, Frank moved there. One fateful day he met a woman named Brenda at the coffee machine, and started a life-long romance. They married in 1998 and established a home in Euless. Frank and Brenda loved to travel, especially enjoying cruises in Europe. But home was the place to be, where they could create a garden and savor home-cooked meals. With the birth of great-grandchildren, Frank became "Grampy" often playing games of hide and seek or engaging in pretend play. Outside of the home, Frank was a man of many interests. He enjoyed photography and writing, publishing several articles for the Fort Worth Star Telegram. He also loved golf, playing often with his friends.
In the summer of 2023, Frank was diagnosed with cancer, which claimed his life on August 11th. He left us with the fondest memories. Frank was preceded in death by his father, Martin Leonard, and mother, Ann Leonard. Frank is survived by his wife Brenda and her child Sherrie Bodiford and husband Clifford Bodiford of Fort Worth, and by Brenda's grandchildren Jennifer Hunter, Melissa Bridges and husband Andrew Bridges, and Matthew Bodiford and fiancee Bailey Nichols, and by great-grandchildren Hazel Bridges and Jessie Hunter, and by his sister Barbara (Leonard) Drummond of North Andover, Massachusetts.
A memorial service for Frank will be held Monday, August 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., Colleyville, TX 76034.
