

Gatha Faye Martin was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Gatha will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Gatha was the youngest of eight children born to Furman and Lillie Teague in Nocona on July 21, 1916.
A typical teenager, Gatha had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. She graduated as salutatorian from Nocona High School in the midst of the Depression.
Empathic and loyal, Gatha was committed to making her new family happy.
Gatha worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Gatha was blessed with one daughter, Connie and two sons, Bobby and Mike. Another blessing for Gatha was the gift of seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Gatha’s faith was important to her. She attended West Berry, South Side and Richland Hills Church of Christ.
Gatha passed away on August 7, 2016 in North Richland Hills, Texas. She is survived by her children Connie Edgmon and husband, Jim, Bobby Martin and wife, Vicki, and Mike Martin and wife, Sherry. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. Gatha was laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
Gatha was an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Gatha leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Gatha Faye Martin.

Gatha Faye Teague Martin, 100, of North Richland Hills passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016.
Gatha was the youngest of eight children born to Furman and Lillie Teague in Nocona on July 21, 1916. She graduated as salutatorian from Nocona High School in the midst of the Depression. She moved to Fort Worth where she met and married her beloved husband, Robert Aubrey Martin, and raised three lovely children. She attended West Berry, South Side and Richland Hills Church of Christ. One of her many accomplishments was the building of her beautiful kitchen hutch from scrap wood. She also had an article published in Reminis Extra about her father's Barber shop in Nocona. Her five little brothers worked in the shop. Her final accomplishment was living to 100 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, her parents, her five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors: Children, Connie Edgmon and husband, Jim, Bobby Martin and wife, Vicki, and Mike Martin and wife, Sherry. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
