What a great loss for the many, many family, friends, and colleagues, and all patriotic Americans.

Gerrit was my boss at Rediffusion in the mid-80s.  I learned more from him than any other boss I ever had (and I had a lot).

He was the personification of strength, courage, purpose, drive, and boundless energy.

I am certain that he's in Heaven, getting it better organized and motivated.

(I am sorry that I missed his passing. At the time, I was struggling to recover from a major stroke.  Still am, but doing better.)

Gerritt was the  greatest boss I ever had. He believed in me and I will be forever grateful for the business opportunity he gave me. He changed my life. The C-17 program and the initial team he put together was very successful under his leadership.  May he Rest In Peace. 

A man with a voice as hard as steel,  but a heart of gold.

Gary was married to my cousin Jean. 
In fact it was the first wedding I ever went to. My father really liked Gary from the moment he met him. They would have conversations about topics that were way over everyone else’s heads.   He Call Gary the spaceman because of his stint in the Air Force. I didn’t get to see Gary and Jean a lot But they always get a big kick out of talking to him on the phone. Rest in peace!

Only good memories of growing up together in Brooklyn NY and of my family's trips to Texas to visit with you.

I am saddened to learn of Gerrit leaving us.    He was a fellow model railroader at Tarrant County Modular Model Railroad Association in Hurst.    During several chats I learned he was a retired Lt. Col. of the U.S. Air Force, last serving in Alaska - thus his train module reflected all that snow.    It was a unique moment several years ago, when Gerrit told me he was so excited to have made 5 snow-mobiles using a 3-D printer.    Gerrit was also quite a help when it came to getting annual reports done for our 401 (3)(c) non-profit.    You will be missed, sir.    And, thank you for your service in the U.S.A!

We were very sorry to hear of Mr. Spiekers passing.  I only met him a few times, but he was a real gentleman and always enjoyed his company at the club.  I'm sure he will be sorely missed.
