

Greg Dean Monson left this world on November 25, 2016. He was 33 years old. Greg was born in Dallas, Texas to Gene Dee Monson and Andrea Jane Monson and grew up in Surrey, England. Greg enjoyed fishing in the pond behind his home and playing with his best friend James. The family moved back to Colleyville, Texas in 1992. He attended Colleyville Heritage Middle School. During the summers Greg enjoyed attending NASA Space Camp & NASA Aviation Challenge in Huntsville, Alabama. He also enjoyed watching movies, playing video games and music. He graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School in May 2002 where he enjoyed playing the Trombone in the High School Band. On June 10, 2002 Greg joined the United State Navy and completed the two year Naval Nuclear Power Training Command program. He achieved a rank of MM 3 and was responsible for Physical Mechanical Calibration Technician 6 and Reactor Technician 6 responsibilities as a Surface Ship Nuclear Propulsion Plant Operator serving 4 years at sea aboard the USS Ronald Reagan Aircraft Carrier. He was deployed in support of OPERATIONS IRAQI AND ENDURING FREEDOM. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Navy “E” Ribbon. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy on June 16, 2009. After returning to Texas Greg later attended the University of Texas at Arlington graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in May 2012. After a brief break from his studies. He re-enrolled in the University of Texas at Arlington and was working on his master’s degree in Chemistry. His mother Andrea Jane Monson and paternal grandparents preceded him in death. Greg is survived by his father Gene his spouse Debra Monson, his sister Anneka her spouse Dustin Edgeman, and many other loving family members.
