

Born April 3rd, 1942 in Kentucky as the middle son to James and Ada Mitchell. He would meet his first wife Ruby in junior high school, and would marry her after completing basic training in the Army. After his four year active duty commission, he and his wife finally settled down in Watauga, Texas in 1968; where they raised their three children: son, James and daughters; Lavonda and Donna.
He began his adult life working for Bell Helicopter as an inspector. He would then get his computer programming certification which would lead to him becoming a project specialist and project manager with Lockheed Martin, Murdock and SPM in Fort Worth. Jim was an active member at North Beach Church of Christ. Many of his hobbies included golf, shooting guns, traveling, and fishing.
Jim was preceded in by his mother, father, his brothers; Melvin Ray and Vernon, wife of 54 years Ruby Mitchell, son; James Mitchell, son-in-law; Tony Anthony, and great-grandson Kendrick.
Jim is survived by his Wife, Sandra Mitchell; Sandy’s daughters, Melissa Little, Carrie Matthies, and son Philip Matthies (Debra). Jim’s daughters: Lavonda Busbee (Scott); Donna Wilson (David). Jim is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Nicki Cross; Melinda Penn (Matt); Kristin Crouse (Matt); Kelsey Lucas; Katelyn Wilson (Kayla); Kolton Wilson (Taylor); Dale Matthies; Cody Matthies; Kellye Poston (Steven); Stuart Little; Michael Little; and 13 great-grandchildren.
