

Joel Lynvell Moberly, 73, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, with his family by his side. Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Colleyville. Visitation: 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Graveside service: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Memorials: Colleyville Heritage Lions Club, Attn: Rusty Nail, 4608 Dartmoore Lane, Colleyville, Tx. 76034. He was born on Nov. 1, 1942, in Dallas to Ralph Lynvell Moberly and Frances Wetsel Moberly. Joel served his country in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. Joel served as an honor guard for John F. Kennedy while he was in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. He met, then married Laurel Tates in San Antonio in 1968. Joel had a 24-year career with Merrill-Dow (Sanofi-Aventis) Pharmaceuticals and a 20-year distinguished career with Coldwell-Banker Realtors in the DFW area. He was a founding member of the Colleyville Heritage Lions Club, serving as a Lion since 1985. Joel was one of the three original founders of the Colleyville BBQ which helped fund the Colleyville Public Library and Community Center. Joel was very active in Colleyville politics for many years and received the Citizen of the Year award in 1988. He was a devout Methodist and choir member since the age of 13. Joel loved the outdoors, stamp collecting, his community and, most of all, his family. Survivors: His wife, Laurel "Laurie" Moberly; his sons, Kevin Moberly and wife, Jennifer, and Martin Moberly; grandchildren, Katlyn, Kyla, Mackenzie and Jackson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and Bill Fadden; nephew, Eric; and lifelong friends, Bill and Linda Godfree.
