

John Marion Walden was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, John will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of George and Cora Walden. He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas
John was raised with 16 siblings. He had three sisters and thirteen brothers. John was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings shared many life experiences over the years.
John was married to Kay Walden for 44 years.
John worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. John was blessed with two sons, John and Stephen and three step-sons, Sammy, Rick, and Donnie. Another blessing for John was the gift of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Fortunately, John enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, John worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. More notably, he played with the Light Crust Doughboys. During his time with the Doughboys, he was nominated for several Grammies and even won one. In addition to his music career he was a self-employed as a welder.
John served his country in the Navy during the Korean War.
John enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. John loved music. He could play any instrument but loved the violin and the fiddle. He played with several bands, at First Baptist Church in Euless, and the Fort Worth Symphony.
John was an active member of the Masons.
John passed away on September 23, 2016 in Richland Hills, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kay Walden; sons, John and wife, Sherri, and Stephen Walden; stepsons, Sammy Connor, Rick and Donnie Beasley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Michael and Duane Walden. Services were held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville, Texas. John was laid to rest in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas.
Simply stated, John was an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. John leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember John Marion Walden. He was loved by his family, and his music will be missed.
