

Johnnie Mae Day (née Babcock), was born in Cuba, Alabama, on August 23rd, 1935. Her parents were Dick Clay and Daisy Mae Sheffield. She was raised by her adoptive parents, Edward R. Babcock (Jack) and his wife Lillie of Fort Worth.
Johnnie met the love of her life, Terry H. Day Jr., in high school. They were only teenagers when they wed on January 17, 1953. She and her husband were very happily married for sixty-five years until his death in 2018.
Their first child, Cathy Ann Day, born June 04, 1954, was stillborn. Their second child was Terry Houston Day III, followed by a third child, Jerry Edward Day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Houston Day Jr., sisters Frances (Brewer) Wilborn and Christine (Brewer) Abrams, and brothers Oscar Brewer Jr. "Billie” and James Brewer "Jimmie".
She is survived by her son Terry H. Day III and his longtime companion George Keller, son Dr. Jerry Edward Day and his partner Debra Crane, and two grandsons, Myles Houston Day, and Trent Edward Day and his wife Meghan. Her extended family includes Debby and Dave Kaus, Dr. Robert Fox and family, Jerry McCurry and family, Arlene Butler and family, Monique and Steve Hall, and Mike and Denise Towns.
Terry and Johnnie moved to Hurst, TX, in 1961. Mr. Day worked as an air traffic controller for the F.A.A. After his retirement, Johnnie and Terry traveled extensively throughout the US.
Johnnie never knew a stranger. She was very outgoing and made friends easily. And she was known to be a kind, giving, funny, and selfless person. More than anything in the world, Johnnie loved doing things for others. That’s what made her happy.
