
Joseph W. Preola passed away on Saturday , May 24th in Bedford , Texas. He was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on January 29th, 1932 to Virginia and Dominick Preola . Joseph married his wife , Lorraine, in 1961 and they were together for over 52 adventurous years . He retired from the U.S. Army after 27 years of service where he served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He spent 3 years as a Prisoner of War in Korea , and served multiple tours during Vietnam earning a Silver Star , 2 Bronze Star’s for Valor, 8 Purple Hearts , The Cross of Gallantry and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge – 2nd Award . Joseph was also a Master Parachutist who earned Jump Wings from the German , Israeli and Vietnamese Armies .
After retiring from the U.S. Army and settling in Bedford , he enjoyed a long career as a Manager with the U.S. Postal Service in Dallas ; where he retired from in 1999. Joseph enjoyed traveling , boating , and spending time with his family. He is survived by his devoted Wife Lorraine, Daughter Kim , Son Kevin , Daughter-In-Law Heather , Granddaughters Lauren and Natalie , and Sister Fran Bozza of Monroe , N.J.
Joseph will be laid to rest at the Dallas - Fort Worth National Veterans Cemetery .
