Judy Lynn (Boyd) Clothier, age 58, of Helotes, Texas, stepped from this world into eternity on Friday, March 7, 2025, after a very brief battle with cancer. Born on September 20, 1966, in Newport Beach, California, she was the cherished daughter of Walter and Patricia Boyd. Judy graduated from Lewisville High School in 1985 and went on to complete the Practical Theology program at Christ For The Nations Institute in 1988.
On September 29, 1990, Judy married the love of her life, Dean Clothier, and served a vital role as an Officer’s wife, wholeheartedly supporting him throughout his 28-year active-duty career in the U.S. Air Force. Their service took them all over the country, forging new friendships and memories at every station. After Dean’s retirement, they returned to Texas and ultimately made their home in Helotes. A devoted Christian, Judy most recently worshipped at Rise Church of Helotes.
Judy was passionately devoted to caring for her family - an effort she carried out with tremendous warmth, compassion, and a healthy dose of humor. Beneath her calm, nurturing exterior shone an adventurous spirit. She traveled as far as Africa and Australia to seek out and photograph exotic animals, delighting in every discovery. Her love of animals led her into the field of herpetology, where she thrived as a respected amateur, contributing her expertise and enthusiasm to numerous organizations and teams for more than two decades. In addition, Judy nurtured her creative side as a published author of several fiction books, sharing her imagination with readers around the world.
Left to honor her memory are her husband, Dean Clothier; their children, Max (formerly Petra), Austin, and Nathaniel; her mother, Pat Boyd; her brother, Walter; and her sister, Mary. Now united with her Savior, Jesus Christ, Judy is undoubtedly overjoyed to also embrace her father, Walter Boyd, who preceded her in heaven.
In every facet of her life - family, faith, writing, and adventure - Judy left an indelible mark on the hearts of those around her. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for the love she gave, the faith she carried, and the footprints of wonder she left across the globe.
