Kyle was born in Bedford, Texas on Valentines Day, February 14, 1974, to Harold and Cecilia Hendley.
Kyle attended grade school at Bedford Heights, and graduated from Bell High School, where he participated in varsity football, baseball and track and field events.
He attended and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1998, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Management. Throughout his life, he was an ardent supporter of all Red Raider sporting events with "guns up" gusto and ongoing commentary when watching his teams compete.
Kyle's interest in hunting, fishing and the outdoors started at nine years of age, and continued for the rest of his life. He was always in search of the larger deer or the bigger fish. His "target" was often captured with a camera as a memory rather than a final event.
His last fishing trip and hunt occurred in December of 2025. When Kyle did harvest game, he would smoke, stew, BBQ, bake, fry or fricassee the prize with his own culinary approach, and serving to those willing to participate and consume his creation.
Kyle loved all things sports, and participated in long distance cycling, flag football and softball for most of his adult life. His highly competitive nature and reckless abandon in the pursuit of victory resulted in injury to his knees, shoulders, feet and hands, all of which required multiple medical procedures. Kyle was not a quitter!
Kyle was a people person, with a gift of gab, and a caring attitude toward others. Whether it was getting extra valentine cards for a grade school classmate who wasn’t getting one from anyone else, or reaching out to an unknown on the street, Kellis Kyle was a compassionate person.
He was an avid reader of mystery, biographies and special love for history. Kyle was unique cause he remembered everything he ever read, and offered detail and data that most readers forget. With his sharp mental acuity and total recall, he was a master at trivia, and a welcome and preferred partner in a group competition.
His humor was subtle and quirky. He would often offer up his latest at the dinner table when everyone else was focused on something else. "What do you call a cow with no leg's?" He would then wait and deliver the answer with a laugh, and offer another mental challenge.
He is survived by his dog Sweetz, who showed up on his doorstep 7 years ago on Thanksgiving Day, to become his loved and loyal friend, Father Harold Hendley, Mother Cecilia Lee Scott and husband Tom. Sister Saresa Geary and Husband Ben. Nephew Brennan Geary. Aunt Thersa Lee. Aunt and Uncle Sarah Lee and William Morris.
Kyle was preceded in death by Grand Parents Rusty and Armoria Lee, and Virgil and Bess Hendley.
Words don't and can't describe Kellis Kyle Hendley. YOU EXPERIENCED HIM!
