He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Dianna. He is also survived by his three children, Eric Worden, Christopher Worden and Michelle Worden. One of Larry’s greatest passions was spending time with his grandchildren - Jacob Austin (named for him), Adam Scott, Londyn Marie and Madison Hope. He spent countless happy hours building Lego sets, listening to long convoluted explanations about L.O.L. Dolls and occasionally wishing for earplugs. The family wishes to give thanks to the Baylor Transplant health care teams for giving us many extra years with Larry, so that he had the opportunity to know his grandchildren.
Larry served two tours in Vietnam with the United States Army and was a steadfast supporter of veterans. He instilled this penchant for service in his children and both sons served our country as well - Christopher served with the US Marine Corps and with the Dallas PD and Eric served with the US Navy, and is currently deployed. Following an honorable discharge from the Army, Larry continued to serve his community as an air traffic controller with the FAA for 27 years.
As proud Christians, Larry and Dianna are members of Church of the Cross and take great strength from their faith. In passing, Larry leaves behind his broken earthly host: “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31) Larry will no doubt stay busy directing angel air traffic and putting his experience with Legos into use with handy suggestions for Kingdom Building. For those of us left behind, we can be comforted that Larry will keep an eye on us until we join him.
And Mizpah, for he said, “The Lord watch between you and me, when we are out of one another’s sight.” (Genesis 31:49)
