

Linda Harris was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Linda will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
She was the daughter of Stewart and Rosabelle (Simmons) Hunsucker. Linda grew up in Winchester, Indiana.
She had one brother, Terry. Linda was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her brother. She and her brother experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young girl, Linda had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed playing and making up games. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. She was a a girl scout. Linda's memorable achievements included. However, to Linda, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with her friends.
A typical teenager, Linda had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She graduated from Winchester High School in 1958. She enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
Linda enjoyed her college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Linda was able to manage the balancing act. She attended Hanover College and than she earned her Bachelor of Home Economics Education Degree from The University of New Mexico in 1980. She belonged to the Alpha Omnicron Pi sorority at Hanover College.
Empathic and loyal, Linda was committed to making her new family happy.
Linda worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Linda was blessed with three daughters Kelly, Jody, and Kirsten. Another blessing for Linda was the gift of seven grandchildren, Allyson, Alec, Danielle, Aaron, Annika, Bryce, and Dylan.
Linda served her country for 22 years as the wife of Major John D. Harries, United States Air Force, Retired.
Linda was a woman who took pride in upholding her beliefs. So it is little wonder that she took an active role in her community, She was also an active member of the Greater Grapevine Newcomers Club, the Grapevine Gardening Club and enjoyed hosting Bridge Club for marathon bridge tournaments.
Linda’s faith was important to her. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Grapevine for over 30 years. During that time, she was serving through her United Methodist Women’s group, the Seekers Sunday School class and volunteering at the church thrift shop.
Linda enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included trips to Canada, Mexico, Europe, China, Ecuador, Argentina, and trips across the United States.
Linda passed away on March 6, 2016 at a hospice facility in Fort Worth, Texas. She is survived by her children, Kelly Harris South of Irving, Jody Harris Booher and husband, Wyatt, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Kirsten "Holly" Holladay and husband, Patrick, of Euless; and grandchildren, Alec South, Danielle South, Aaron Otto, Annika Otto, Bryce Holladay and Dylan Holladay. Services were held at the First United Mehodist Church in Grapevine,Texas. Linda was laid to rest in Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester,Indiana.
Simply stated, Linda was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Linda leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Linda Harris.

Linda Lou Hunsucker Harris, 76, of Euless, Texas; passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at a hospice facility in Fort Worth, Texas. She had lived in Euless, Texas since 1984.
She was born on January 27, 1940 to Stewart and Rosabelle (Simmons) Hunsucker in Winchester, Indiana. She graduated from Winchester High School, class of 1958, attended Hanover College and earned a Bachelor of Home Economics Education from the University of New Mexico, 1980. Linda served her country for 22 years as the wife of Major John D. Harris, United States Air Force, Retired.
High school sweethearts, “Dan” and Linda were married on December 18, 1960. During their years of military service, they were stationed and raised a family at USAF bases in Michigan, California, Texas, Florida and New Mexico. During the Vietnam War, John served as an HH-53 “Jolly Green” co-pilot and aircraft commander with the 40th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron. Linda made her first trip abroad to visit John in Thailand during one of his two tours of duty. After retiring from the Air Force, they moved from Albuquerque, NM to Euless, TX in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Linda spent many years in banking and finance, finally retiring from Wells Fargo Bank.
John’s 19 years as a fight instructor for American Airlines, provided them the opportunity to travel the world together, a passion Linda had her entire life. They traveled well into their retirement years with friends and family to Canada, Mexico, Europe, China, Ecuador, Argentina, and across the United States.
Linda spent many years as a Girl Scout & with three daughters, as a Girl Scout Leader. She belonged to the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority at Hanover College. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Grapevine for over 30 years, serving thru her United Methodist Women’s group, the Seekers Sunday School class and volunteering at the church thrift shop. She was also an active member of the Greater Grapevine Newcomers Club, the Grapevine Gardening Club and enjoyed hosting Bridge Club for marathon bridge tournaments. Linda will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
