Lois was born on August 15, 1942, in Clarksville, Texas, to parents Jess and Minnie Whitaker.
Lois attended Clarksville High School, where she received numerous honors, including Most Beautiful Junior and Senior, as well as FFA Sweetheart.
After graduating high school, Lois moved to Dallas, where she met Bob Staley on a blind date. Bob said that Lois was the prettiest woman he’d ever laid eyes on. Lois and Bob married and had three children, Dane, Chris, and Angi.
Mom was a special person. To say she was dearly loved by her family is putting it mildly. She was a gem, with the kindest soul and the sweetest smile. Mom always said “cold hands, warm heart.” Mom had the coldest hands, so clearly she had the warmest heart.
Mom’s cooking skills were divine and could bring a tear to your eye - everything she made, she made with love. She made sure on special occasions that everyone got their favorites. From her chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy, to Thanksgiving dressing, to cheesecake, to her weekly cornbread. Even her peanut butter and jelly sandwiches hit different. Mom took the time and care to make these things special for us because she loved us, and it made her happy to see us happy.
Mom loved watching her Dallas Cowboys (as long as they were winning), playing slots in Oklahoma, sitting in front of the fireplace, and enjoying a margarita on the rocks with a Viva Esparza. She could name nearly every flower Dad planted for her. She took great pleasure in reminding everyone how hot the summer of 1980 was (the summer her daughter was born).
Lois and Bob were married 60 wonderful years. To this day, Dad still thinks mom is the prettiest woman he’s ever laid eyes on. The Staley family share many beautiful memories, and are so blessed she was a part of our lives. Mom was one in a million. Mom was absolutely the greatest.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Thelma Posey.
Lois is survived by her husband, Bob, children Dane, Chris (Dawn), and Angi, brother Bobby Don (Joy), a host of nieces and nephews, and her dog, Poppy.
